General Product Description

ASTM A517 Grade Q is a high-strength, quenched and tempered alloy steel plate intended for pressure vessel applications. A517 Grade Q is available in thicknesses up to 3.6 in. and has a minimum yield strength of 100 ksi up to 2.5 in. thick and 90 ksi for plates greater than 2.5 in. thick to 3.6 in. thick. ASTM A517 Grade Q also has required Charpy V-notch impact property requirements.

Tensile Test: Tensile testing is performed in the transverse direction according to ASTM A20 requirements.

Mechanical Testing
Charpy V-Notch Impact Properties: A trasverse Charpy V-notch lateral expansion of 0.015" [0.38 mm] in individual specimens is required. The test temperature shall be agreed upon between the manufacturer and purchaser. Please inquire for required Charpy V-notch test temperature and for other specified minimum impact property requirements.
